Safeguarding Statement
Many Verogig bookings happen in churches, youth groups and community settings where children and vulnerable adults are present. This is what we do, what we expect of you, and where our responsibility ends.

Our commitment
Verogig is committed to the principle that the welfare of children and vulnerable adults is paramount. We design the platform so that organisations can see relevant vetting evidence before they commit, and so that concerns can be raised quickly and taken seriously.
What our vetting badges mean
- Musicians may upload an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance. We check the document is valid and in date before a badge appears, and badges expire so they cannot go stale.
- A DBS badge confirms that a certificate was seen on a given date. It is not an ongoing character reference, a barred-list decision on our part, or a substitute for your own recruitment checks.
- Audition clips evidence musical ability only. They say nothing about suitability to work with children.
- Where a booking involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults, organisations should filter for DBS-verified musicians and complete their own checks as well.
Shared responsibility
Verogig is an intermediary, not the employer and not the safeguarding authority for any booking.
- The booking organisation remains the responsible body: it must apply its own safeguarding policy, decide whether a role is regulated activity, arrange supervision, and follow its denominational or local-authority guidance.
- Musicians are self-employed contractors who must follow the host organisation's safeguarding policy while on site and hold any checks their work requires.
- Verogig maintains the platform, checks uploaded vetting documents, keeps booking and message records, and acts on reports.
Expected conduct in church and youth settings
- Never be alone and unobserved with a child or vulnerable adult. Rehearsals with young musicians should be in an open or observable space with another adult present.
- Communicate about a booking through the platform or through the organisation's designated contact — not through a young person's personal phone or social media.
- Do not photograph, film or livestream children or vulnerable adults without the organisation's permission and the appropriate consents.
- Do not offer lifts to children or vulnerable adults, and do not arrange private lessons off the back of a booking without the organisation's knowledge and its own checks.
- Follow instructions from the organisation's safeguarding lead at all times, including on access, exits and supervision.
Raising a concern
- If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999 first.
- Report to the host organisation's designated safeguarding lead, who is responsible for referral to the local authority or police.
- Then tell us at safeguarding@verogig.app so we can act on the account. Include the booking reference if you have it.
- We acknowledge safeguarding reports within one working day. While a concern is being handled we may suspend a profile, remove badges, and block new bookings.
- We will cooperate fully with the police, local authority designated officers and statutory safeguarding partners, and will disclose booking and message records where lawfully required.
Handling of vetting data
DBS information is criminal-offence data under the Data Protection Act 2018. We use it only to confirm a badge and its expiry, restrict access to the staff who perform that check, and delete the document within 30 days of expiry or removal. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
