Booking a stranger to lead worship shouldn't be a leap of faith
Verogig exists because informal music booking leaves both sides exposed — unvetted strangers on one side, unpaid invoices on the other. Here's exactly how we close those gaps.
Vetting and badges
Musicians can upload an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance. We check the documents before a badge appears on a profile, and badges expire so they can't go stale. Organisations working with children or vulnerable adults should filter for DBS-verified musicians and still follow their own safeguarding policy.
Payments held until the work is done
The fee is agreed before anyone commits. On confirmation the amount is held, and it's released to the musician once the organisation marks the booking complete. That removes cash handling from the vestry and gives both sides a record of what was agreed.
Independent contractors, not employees
Verogig acts as a booking agent introducing organisations to self-employed musicians. Musicians control their own rates, accept or decline any request, and supply their own instruments. They are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance, and no employment relationship is created with Verogig or the booking organisation.
A clear record for every booking
Each booking stores the date, time, venue town, agreed fee, notes and the full message thread. If a disagreement arises, both sides are looking at the same facts rather than a half-remembered phone call.
Your data, handled properly
We process personal data under UK GDPR on the lawful bases of contract and legitimate interest. We collect only what a booking needs, never sell personal data, and you can request access or deletion of your account data at any time.
The commercial terms, plainly
- What does Verogig charge?
- A 2.5% platform fee on confirmed bookings. There is no subscription, no listing fee and no charge when a request doesn't go ahead.
- Who sets the fee for a service?
- The organisation offers a fee and the musician accepts or declines it. Musicians publish a minimum rate so offers below their threshold are filtered out early.
- What happens if someone cancels?
- Cancellations before confirmation cost nothing. After confirmation, contact us and we mediate using the booking record and message thread before releasing or refunding held funds.
- Does a DBS badge replace our safeguarding checks?
- No. It is strong evidence, not a substitute. Your organisation remains responsible for its own safeguarding policy and supervision arrangements.
- Is Verogig an employer or agency?
- Verogig is an introduction and booking platform acting as agent. Musicians remain self-employed and are not workers or employees of Verogig.
